How do I create assignments?
There are two ways to create assignments in Writer's Help 2.0:
- From the Assignments tab you can create units and add items to them.
- You can assign items from the Table of Contents, adding them to existing units or creating new units as part of the process of assigning.
Regardless of which method you choose, you will always be required to group your assignments into units.
Create an assignment "unit" and add pages and other resources to it
If this is your first assignment unit, this is what you'll see:
To create an assignment unit, click on + Add New Assignment at the top left of the screen.
If you've already created assignment units, this is what you'll see:
If you have already added some assignment units, you will them listed. To create a new unit, click + Add New Assignment.
Now that you've created a unit you can add assignments to it. Click Add to this Unit and select either 1) Create new or 2) Add from resources. Selecting Create new will allow you to create assignments from scratch, such as quizzes or document collections, while selecting Add from resources will allow you to assign Writer's Help 2.0 content, such as pages, LearningCurve activities, or exercises.
Assign pages and other resources from the Table of Contents
Note: We strongly suggest that you add content to assignments one page or resource at a time, not a whole section or chapter at once.
From the Table of Contents, navigate to the page or resource you wish to add to your assignment unit. Hover your cursor over the title, and the Options menu will appear at the right of the title.
In the Manage Assignment screen, use the drop-down menu to select an assignment unit you have already created.
Note: if you don't see an existing unit to add this assignment to, Click Create New.
Set the due date and time.
If you want your students to see the assignment immediately, leave Visible to students checked. If you do not want them to see it immediately, Uncheck it. You can return to the assignment to make it visible anytime.
When you are finished, Click Assign.
When you are finished making the assignment, Click Home in the gray menu bar to return to your place in the text. You can view your assignment in two ways.
1) By using the drop-down arrows to click through the Table of Contents:
