Assigning LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 Content in Your Blackboard Course

To assign LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 content inside your Blackboard course, you must first link your LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 course to your Blackboard course. If you haven't yet done so, see Linking LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 Content to Your Blackboard Course Space. We also recommend that you assign all resources for a given period in LaunchPad first, then open Blackboard to assign them there. You can repeat this process as needed throughout the semester.

Step 1

To assign LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 activities within Blackboard, you must first assign the activities in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 with gradebook settings (points and a gradebook category). If an activity such as reading an e-book page is not for a grade, you should still assign it in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0, but you can leave the points field blank or enter 0.

For more information on assigning LaunchPad content, see the help article "How do I create assignments?"

For more information on assigning Writer's Help 2.0 content, see the help article "How do I create assignments?"

Important note: Resources such as exercises and LearningCurve adaptive quizzes are usually auto-graded, whereas activities that require students to write must always be manually graded. It's best to take a look at what you're assigning before bringing it into your Blackboard course so that you're not surprised by how it will be graded.

Step 2

To load your LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 table of contents in Blackboard and select your assignments, take the following steps:

2a

From the folder you created to house LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 assignments, click on the Partner Content tab, and select "Content Market" from the drop-down list.

Blackboard will load the table of contents for your LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 course.

Step 3

There are two ways to use the table of contents to bring resources into Blackboard.

Note: If you are assigning content in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 in one browser tab or window, and you have the table of contents open in Blackboard in another tab or window, you may not see your newly created LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 assignments in the table of contents in Blackboard. Refreshing your Blackboard page will fix this, though you will be taken to your Blackboard course home page. See Step 2 in this article if you need help navigating back to the table of contents within Blackboard.

If you assign all of your desired content in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 before opening the table of contents in Blackboard, you will avoid having to refresh and navigate back and forth.

3a

The top folder in your LaunchPad Units folder is Assignments. This folder contains all of the content you have already assigned in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0.

To quickly assign in Blackboard all of the content you have assigned in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0, click the dropdown arrow on the right of the Assignments folder and click Select All. Then click Submit at the bottom of the page.

If you've chosen not to assign certain resources in LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0, but you still want to bring them into Blackboard, you can expand the folders for each Unit and check the box next to each item you want to bring in. When you're done, click Submit at the bottom of the page.

Whatever method you choose, note that gradable assignments will display with a bar graph icon to the right of the assignment name.

What are the LaunchPad and E-book check boxes for?

You'll see the LaunchPad and E-book check boxes below the Assignments folder. Selecting them will give your students a quick link to the entire LaunchPad home page and to the home page filtered by the E-book only from your Blackboard course.

Please note that selecting these options might confuse students, for they may not be sure what you'd like them to do after landing on the LaunchPad home page or in the e-book. As we've noted elsewhere, linking to assignments individually provides students with the best experience.

Step 4

On the Selected Macmillan Higher Education Content page that follows, accept all defaults, and click "Submit." This action will deploy your selected assignments to Blackboard.

Step 5

The Blackboard content page will re-display and will now contain the newly deployed LaunchPad or Writer's Help 2.0 assignments.
