There are two ways you can e-mail your whole class or a subset of the class: from within Sapling Learning via the Participants page, or within your desired e-mail software after exporting your gradebook.

From the Participants page

Course Management > Participants

In the left navigation menu on your course home page, click Course Management, then click Participants.

Filter list to show desired students (optional)

If applicable, use the filters at the top to narrow down the list to just the desired students.

Select students to e-mail

Select the users you want to e-mail or scroll to the bottom of the page and click Select all.

Important Note: If there is more than one page of students, you'll want to click Show all x to get all students on one page before clicking Select all.

From the drop-down menu that says With selected users... choose Add/send message.

Export e-mails

  1. In the left navigation menu of your course home page, click Grades.
  2. Export the gradebook.
  3. Copy the entire e-mail column and paste those e-mail addresses into the bcc field of your preferred e-mail program.

If you have groups enabled in your course, you can select a single group before exporting. Additionally, you can sort the spreadsheet to find a certain subset of students. For example, you could sort by ID number and copy only the e-mails of students who have not entered their student ID into their profile. Or, you could sort by overall grade and copy only the e-mails of students who are failing.
