As noted earlier, the Canvas admin can add the Macmillan Higher Education external app to just a single course or to all the courses in a Canvas account. Once added, the instructor can access the Macmillan app from the course navigation panel (left nav), by using the ‘Add item’ function in a Canvas module, or by using the Canvas rich content editor.

Click Settings, then Apps

On your Canvas course home page, in the Course Navigation panel, click Settings, then Apps.

Find the Macmillan Higher Education app

Scroll down the page or use the search function to find the Macmillan Higher Education app. Click the app.

Enter name, key, and secret

On the Add App panel, change the name of the app to Macmillan Learning, enter the consumer key/shared secret provided by Macmillan Learning, and click Submit.

Confirm that Macmillan Learning displays in App Configuration

Canvas will display the App Configuration page, which now lists the Macmillan app. Your own Canvas system may or may not list the Macmillan app’s extensions. Either case is fine.

Refresh your browser and go to the Navigation tab

You'll see the Macmillan Learning app at the bottom of the course navigation list. Drag and drop the Macmillan Learning app to the spot where you want it in the list and click Save.

Confirm that the app is now in the left navigation menu

Click the Macmillan Learning link in the left navigation menu to open the Macmillan Tools page.

Confirm tools are available

On the Macmillan tools page, confirm that the tools are available and ready for instructor use.
