Setup for deep integration with Macmillan Learning’s platform is very simple and requires the D2L administrator to create just two new remote plugins:

  • one of plugin type Widget for the Macmillan Course Tools widget which will appear on the instructor’s D2L course home page, and,
  • one of plugin type Course Builder which instructors will use to deploy Macmillan content into their D2L course spaces.

Manage remote plugins

Log in as D2L system administrator. On the Home Page, in the Admin Tools, under Security, select Remote Plugins.

Set Up the Macmillan Course Tools Widget

Click "New Remote Plugin"

Create a new remote plugin

On the Create a new Remote Plugin page, provide the inputs detailed below and click Save.

  1. For plugin type: Select Widget
  2. For name: Macmillan Course Tools
  3. For launch point: https://lmslink.bfwpub.com/index.php?custom_action=toolsWidget
  4. The Macmillan Sales Engineer will provide the LTI Key during the on-boarding call.
  5. The Macmillan Sales Engineer will provide the LTI Secret during the on-boarding call.
  6. For Icon URLhttps://lmslink.bfwpub.com/images/icons/macmillan-logo-50px.png
  7. Make the remote plugin available to all the appropriate descendant org units of the Current Org Unit.
  8. Click Save to add the new plugin and return to the Manage Remote Plugins page.

Now you will create a second plugin in a similar way.

Set Up the Macmillan Course Builder Plugin

On the Create a new Remote Plugin page, provide the inputs detailed below and click Save.

  1. For plugin type: Select Course Builder
  2. For name: Macmillan Course Builder
  3. For launch point: https://lmslink.bfwpub.com/index.php?custom_action=toc
  4. The Macmillan Sales Engineer will provide the key during the on-boarding call.
  5. The Macmillan Sales Engineer will provide the secret during the on-boarding call.
  6. For small icon: https://lmslink.bfwpub.com/images/icons/macmillan-logo-50px.png
  7. Make the remote plugin available to all the appropriate descendant org units of the Current Org Unit.
  8. Click Save to add the new plugin and return to the Manage Remote Plugins page.
