When you are using the Equation Editor to submit your answers, the system tries to give clues when something is wrong. Note the red parentheses below are not closed because they are not at the same level. One is in superscript.


When the system detects parentheses that are closed, they are shown in black. It is an indication that the input is viewed by the system as acceptable.


If you submit an answer with red parentheses, it is likely the system will mark your answer as incorrect.


Incorrect answer


The parentheses in the answer are not closed because they are not at the same level.


Corrected answer


The parentheses in the answer are closed because they are at the same level.
