Turn editing on

To add Macmillan Course Tools in Moodle, navigate to your Moodle course page and switch into editing mode by clicking on Turn editing on at the top right of the page.

Add an activity or resource

Proceed to a desired module and click + Add an activity or resource.

Add external tool

On the Add an activity or resource menu, select the radio button for External Learning Tools and click on Add to continue.

"General" section

On the Add a new External Tool page, under the General section perform the following actions.

  1. Type in “Macmillan Course Tools” for the Activity Name in the field provided.
  2. In the drop-down menu for External Tool Type, select Macmillan Learning Tools.
  3. Click on Show more to continue.

Custom parameters

After selecting Show more, the General section will expand. Scroll down to Custom parameters and type in: “action=toolsWidget”

"Privacy" section

On the same page under the Privacy section, mark all options except Accept grades from the tool. Click Save and return to course to proceed.

Important Note: Leaving the Accept grades from the tool option unchecked will ensure that Macmillan Course Tools will not appear as a column in the Moodle gradebook.

Turn editing off

Back on the Moodle course page, select Turn editing off at the top right of the page.

Confirm the addition of the Macmillan Course Tools

Notice that the Macmillan Course Tools link now appears in the content area of your Moodle course.
