It is possible to give each question in your mobile assignment a relative weight, allowing some questions to be worth more points than others within the same assignment.

Make your assignment hidden

You can only edit question weights if your mobile assignment is currently hidden and has yet to be started by any students. For more information on how to show/hide an activity, see the help article Making Mobile Assignments Visible to Students.

Go to the Mobile Assignment Editor

Click on a mobile assignment from your main course page to open the Mobile Assignment Editor. If your assignment is hidden, you should see a drop-down menu for each question in the Weight column.

Adjust the weight

Each question can have a weight of 0, 0.5, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9.
  • Questions with a weight of 0 have no effect on the student's score.
  • Questions with a weight of 0.5 are worth half as much as a question weighted 1.
  • Questions with a weight higher than 1 are worth however many times as much. For example, a question with a weight of 5 would be worth five times as many points as a question with a weight of 1.

Any change you make to a question's weight is automatically saved.

How does a student know a question is weighted?

Any weights you set up will appear next to the question as the student works on the assignment. The only exception is a question with a weight of 0, which will simply display as Ungraded.
