LaunchPad's new e-book can be downloaded onto a computer or mobile device and read offline.

If the steps described in this article do not match your experience with LaunchPad, then you probably have an older version of the e-book. Older e-books can not be downloaded and read offline at this time.

From your LaunchPad home page

Hover over or click Help in the upper right corner, then click Download Offline EBook.

Sign up for a Macmillan Learning eBook account

If this is your first time downloading an offline e-Book from LaunchPad or Sapling Learning, you will need to create an account or log in with an existing Macmillan Learning eBook account. If you already have a Macmillan Learning eBook account, enter the same e-mail you use for that account in the Email box. Otherwise, just enter the same e-mail you use for your LaunchPad account.


If you are creating a new account:

You will need to enter your personal information and agree to the Terms of Use before continuing. Once you have entered the information, click Finish.


If you already have a Macmillan Learning eBook account:

You will be prompted to log in using your existing password. If you forgot your password, click the Forgot password link.


View your e-book online

Once you are logged in, you will be taken to your e-book. You will not have to log in to your Macmillan Learning eBook account again. You will be automatically logged in each time you access the e-book from LaunchPad. Once you have accessed the book online, you can download it to read offline on your computer or a mobile device.

Instructions for downloading onto a computer

From the online reader

Click the menu icon to expand the left sidebar. Click the button to Download App.

Download the Bookshelf App

You will be taken to the VitalSource Bookshelf support site. Click the Download link for your device.

Open the app and log in

Follow the download and installation instructions to run the app on your computer. When you open the app, you will be asked to log in to your VitalSource Bookshelf account. This will be the same account you used to sign in when you accessed the e-book online.

Follow download prompt

As soon as you log in, a prompt will appear asking if you want to download a recently purchased book. Click Download.

Double-click the book

Once it has finished downloading, double-click the image of your book to open the reader.

Instructions for downloading onto a mobile device

Download the Macmillan Learning eBook App

The Macmillan Learning eBook app is available for Android/Kindle Fire and iOS devices. Go to your device's app store and search "Macmillan Learning eBook" to find the app. Download and install the app on your device.


Open the app and log in

The first time you open the app, you will be asked to log in to your Macmillan Learning eBook account. This will be the same account you used to to sign in when you accessed the e-book online.



Tap on the book to download

Once you log in, you will see your book with a down arrow superimposed over it. Tap on the down arrow to begin downloading your book.



Tap on the book to read

Once the book is finished downloading, tap on it to open the reader.
