How do you use Writer's Help? I use Writer's Help in two courses, a junior/senior lab course and an undergraduate student thesis course. For the lab course, students do Learning Curves and exercises in order to remind them of basic grammar and organization. As they start writing more complicated reports, I have them work on how to find and use citations. The thesis students benefit from the section on "Writing in the biological sciences" as well as the MLA sections.

Advice on Using Technology with Students: I have found that walking them through the opening pages to get to their homework or search for specific topics decreases early mistakes. Students are motivated to take the homework seriously after I show them that before we adopted Writer's Help students routinely lost a letter grade due to poor grammar on lab reports.
