Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Texas Tech UniversityDr. John D'Auria is an Assistant Professor of Biochemistry at Texas Tech University, where his philosophy is simple and straightforward: Present the material to students in a manner that is engaging, easy to understand, and personable. He strives to capture students’ interest through discussion and by presenting relevant examples to “everyday” life so the student can put the information into context. In addition, he has incorporated technology into his teaching to further help with engaging with his students. Dr. D'Auria participated in the STEM Teaching, Engagement and Pedagogy (STEP) program at Texas Tech during the 2016-17 academic year and was then asked to serve as a mentor for the past 2 academic years. He received an Alexander von Humbolt Postdoctoral Fellowship, and was a Project Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology from 2003-2013. He received his MSc. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
