Modeling responsibility with digital course materials

Put this in the learned-the-hard-way category. I typically use LaunchPad a lot when we study PSAs (public service ads) as arguments. (The No More, Real Cost, and Lock It Up ad campaigns are among my favorites.) I find it’s convenient to load a bunch of videos into LP rather than sending my students a bunch of links, willy nilly. It’s convenient for students because it’s a one-stop shop for the night’s homework, and it’s convenient for me because I can assign the videos and give points for completed viewing.

Students who write rhetorical analysis essays on these videos have to cite the videos, of course, and I found myself scrambling one afternoon, after a student conference, to go back into LaunchPad to edit the video assignments to include publication information for each of the videos. Selecting “Edit assignment” and then “Edit basic info” allowed me to do that easily. Whew!

How do you use LaunchPad?
