"Reviewing the DSM 5 Changes: An Open Book Workshop" Featuring Robin Rosenberg

    This workshop featuring Robin Rosenberg will provide an overview of the major changes, from the discontinuation of the multi-axial system, to the changes to Somatoform Disorders, the addition of new disorders (such as Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder) and the revamping of other disorders (such as the newly-renamed Gender Dysphoria and Illness Anxiety Disorder). Also discussed will be some of the controversial changes, such as discontinuing the bereavement exclusion for Major Depressive Disorder. Attendees will benefit from having a copy of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition open during the talk.

     

    COURSE GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

     

    1. Understand the structural changes to and organization of DSM-5.

    2. Learn about some of the disorders new to DSM-5  (e.g., Illness Anxiety Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder)

    3. Learn about some of the change in criteria to disorders that were in DSM-IV (e.g., PTSD, Acute Stress Disorder, Body Dysmorphic Disorder)
