Writing Program Director Kyle Jensen of the University of North Texas faced a challenge common to many first-year writing programs.

The program needed additional funding, as well as a way to bolster engagement with faculty, students, administration, and the larger UNT community. Dr. Jensen met this challenge head on: he worked with Macmillan Learning to create custom materials that reflected the unique needs of the institution, to deliver faculty training by scholars in the field, and to bring Pulitzer prize winning author Jeffrey Eugenides to campus. This effort helped to generate departmental revenue and to reinvigorate the writing program.
